ITINERARY

Thursday: Lisbon | Bucelas | Aldeia da Mata Pequena

Arrive at Lisbon International Airport. Meet your private English-speaking driver outside customs and leave towards Bucelas.

Early Countryside dinner: During this countryside barbeque served at our exclusive organic farm and private estate, you will be able to unwind, enjoy the farm, cook if you so feel inclined in a serene and charming environment that brings together local food and local chefs who are experts in bringing the freshest ingredients to the table in creative and unique ways. Food will consist of authentic and rustic Portuguese flavours, highlighting fresh fish and seafood, meats and smoked sausages, and diverse and colourful salads and roasted vegetables.

Traditional Portuguese desserts will conclude your lunch before you leave towards Aldeia da Mata Pequena and check into your One Bedroom house.

Friday: Cartaxo

After breakfast leave towards Cartaxo.

Goat’s Cheese Farm to Table with lunch: Portugal’s cheeses are diverse and are still a hidden gem in comparison to other European countries. This tour is a visit to a goat's cheese maker, famous especially for the quality of his cheeses and mostly for the aged cheese. This gentleman is also a gastronomer and plants in his land several products that are either exotic or that are native Portuguese but went almost extinct. We will learn from him how to make a traditional regional dish, and to finish off our day in style we will grill some sardines or codfish (depending on the season), taste the cheeses and many other products he produces at the village at the gentleman’s private restaurant that will open just for us.

After lunch, your driver will take you to the Aldeia.

Foraging in Aldeia da Mata Pequena with Cooking Class and Dinner: Join a Portuguese herbalist and a local chef in the rich fields around Aldeia da Mata Pequena and together forage for edible herbs, flowers, fruits and roots from the wild. Back to the village you and the chef will prepare dinner together, cooking it inside one of the quaint traditional houses, on a wood-burning oven. Lunch will be the combination of foraged ingredients and other traditional Portuguese produce to complete a delicious feast that you will enjoy together.

Saturday: Alentejo & Setúbal

Cork Tour with Lunch in the Alentejo: Imagine walking through rolling hills, cork forests, olive groves and vineyards in a landscape occasionally broken by a medieval fortress, an abandoned chapel or a prehistoric dolmen. At this charming winery, you'll not only experience an informational jeep tour through the vibrant Alentejo vineyards and cork forests, but you'll also savour a private wine tasting followed by a rustic regional lunch. It is an exceptional experience in the stunning Portuguese countryside.

After lunch, your driver will take you back to Mata Pequena. On the way, stop at Setúbal for a treat.

Oyster tasting & Farming: Wade out into the water and taste fresh native Portuguese oysters straight out of the sea, and learn first hand, how to shuck an oyster. Food can evoke all our senses – taste, smell, vision and feel. A tour of this oyster farm truly does reach all these senses. Smell the fresh Atlantic air. See the farm crew working hard in the water to grow the most perfectly formed oysters (should you want to you are welcome to join them in the water to get your own oysters). Guided by the farmers you can also enjoy foraging for some delicious edible plants that grow on the estuary sandy banks. You’ll see baby oysters, learn how oysters grow, have a hands-on shucking lesson to open your own oysters, and best of all get to taste their fresh creamy and salty taste, straight out of the water. An oyster lover’s dream come true!

Transfer to Aldeia da Mata Pequena. Night off.

Sunday: Sintra

Meet your private driver at the lobby and leave towards Sintra, Penina.

Picnic Lunch/Brunch at Penina Mountain in Sintra: Enjoy a picnic lunch at a magical place (Sheep's milk buttery cheese with Azorean cake bread, chorizo, gazpacho salad, fish "torricado" (bruschetta) with fresh herbs, olive tapenade, goat's butter, fresh seasonal fruit, miniature pastries, two of the following - sparkling, white, rosé or red wine, fresh fruit and herbs juice, coffee, tea, still and/or sparkling water)
